Apple Relists All Eligible Products with EPEAT

Fri, 13 Jul 2012 Ā«permalinkĀ»

I know I haven’t been all super up-to-date with covering news lately, but unless you’ve been living under a rock you had probably heard about Apple pulling their products from EPEAT because one of the requirements for a product to be deemed acceptably recyclable was that it needed to be easy to take apart with common tools.

Newer Apple products have been foregoing this requirement in exchange for the portability and stellar battery life.

It now appears that Apple is choosing to leave the products that don’t fall in to this new niche listed with EPEAT instead of pulling their whole catalog as they had done before. This seems to be a result of how many institutional groups would be forced by policy to stop buying products that aren’t EPEAT certified.
