A preview of the new MySpace. They’re still holding on to that whole “We’re for musicians!” angle. I’m still holding my breath.
Snark aside. The UI looks nice, if not a little whizz-bangy. The video never stays in one place long enough for me to get a real opinion, and I’m much, much, much, much too lazy to pause the video and really analyze it. But it looks nice.
And it looks like they may really be able to leverage their huge, huge following of bands that still use MySpace as a platform; recognizing that the band never left during their initial implosion might have been the only thing that’s allowed them to stay around.
All of that being said, do we really have room for Yet Another Social Network? And how in the world are they going to shed the skin of their tarnished brand? You probably laughed at the word “MySpace” when you saw the title to this post.
All the best to them, though. They could actually be on to something. Just don’t bitch out on the follow-through, folks.
