Summer Internships Available at IHMC

Once again, my employer is hiring. This time, though, all open positions are for summer interns, so if you were put-off by the requirements and background needed by our previous open positions then you needn’t worry.

You can get an idea of what we’ve been working on by following the lab’s DARPA Robotics Challenge Updates Page.

The application process will require you to write code, and is powered by Interview Street. Applications will stay open until April 14th.

Robot Control Summer Internship

Seeking talented summer interns to be part of the IHMC Robotics Team to develop software tools for controlling humanoid walking robots and exoskeletons.

Ideal candidate should have the ability write clean code in Java to the highest standards; have an understanding of advanced level object-oriented programming concepts; have excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Applicants should have knowledge of standard control theory, robot kinematics, dynamics, and control concepts. Applicants must have excellent communication and documentation skills, thriving in both a team and individual environment.

Minimum requirements for the successful candidate:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Knowledge of robot dynamics and control
  • Proficient in Java and agile programming techniques

Please note that the Java programming challenge is difficult and you will be given up to 16 hours to complete it. The test cannot be paused, so only begin the test when you are ready and have allotted adequate time and brainpower to complete the challenge.

Your score on the Java programming challenge will be factored into your application and is required to apply for this position.
